CHRISTOPHER MARTIN AND GENTLEMAN TO TOUR EUROPE

Jamaican music sensation Christopher Martin heads to Europe this winter for 5 solo shows and then joins European reggae star Gentleman as they embark on a multi-city European tour in November and December.

Christopher Martin and Gentleman have seen significant success in their careers as individual artiste but recently teamed up and merged their solo success and created a number one hit song called To The Top. The video, shot in Marrakech, Morocco saw the two blending their musical styles with the captivating backdrop of the ancient city. And this November Christopher Martin and Gentleman will further emphasize their collaborative genius on stages all over Europe.

Christopher Martin will start his tour of Europe, solo, for five shows beginning on October 30 in Mannheim, Germany. Martin then moves to Cologne, Germany on November 2, Oslo in Norway on November 5, back to Cologne on November 6 and finally in Helsinki, Finland on November 7. The intensity of the tour will increase when Martin joins Gentleman on his Diversity tour from November 18 to December 22. This is the second leg of the tour with the fist leg, a six-week summer tour, being sold. out The upcoming tour will see Christopher Martin and Gentleman taking the stage in 9 countries for 22 shows. The two will perform in Germany, Switzerland, France, Holland, Spain, Luxemburg, Poland, Macedonia, and the Czech Republic.

Gentleman’s latest album Diversity entered the German Album Charts directly in pole position. This year MTV pays tribute to the artist and, for the first time, Gentleman is nominated in the category "Best German Artist" for the MTV European Music Awards in Madrid on November 11, 2010.

Asked how he feels about being part of such a high profile tour, Christopher Martin says he is glad for the chance to show the world his music: “I am really happy for this opportunity, the song I did with Gentleman has really opened many doors for me and this tour will open more doors. I have never been on a tour of this magnitude, I know it will be a challenge but I am ready for it, keeping fit and getting ready to give the European fans my all.”

Christopher Martin, who has notched up numerous hits both in Europe and Jamaica, is now considered one of the new crop of stars who will carry on the legacy of Jamaican music in Europe.

I-Octane Steals The Show In The Jungle

Fast-rising reggae and dancehall entertainer I-Octane easily stole the show at the Fuel Cell Energy Drink's Honouring Dancehall Heroes fête at The Jungle in Negril over the Heroes weekend.

Ever since his stellar performance at this year's staging of Reggae Sumfest, I-Octane has kept going, fuelled with positive music and delivering at each live performance that he attends, and entertaining fans at the Jungle was not different.

The Lose A Friend musician and the new face of a Digicel promotional campaign seemed to have sipped on a Fuel Cell Energy Drink before entering the stage to entertain a capacity-filled Jungle showground, as his high-energy performance continued untamed throughout his near 20-minute stint.

From Mama Yu Alone to his recent hit My Life, his message resonated with patrons - some of whom journeyed from as far as the United Kingdom to indulge in this celebration of musical excellence.

His timing onstage came after emcee Ragashanti announced that the highly anticipated performance from the 'doctor' Beenie Man would not materialise as he was in Africa and could not be at the stage show.

However, I-Octane's performance made up for that shortcoming.

Jah Cure superb

No Beenie, no problem, as, while not originally billed to perform at the event, international reggae star Jah Cure gave the audience a superb 'consolation prize' package of entertainment that had patrons shouting for more after his performance.

Making his entrance on the 'Drop Leaf' rhythm that is shared with TOK (who was also onstage when he made his entry), Jah Cure told his fans why he was Longing For his time to perform for his fans who continue to support his musical endeavours.

Though his performance was shorter than most would have liked, Cure showed his fans Unconditional Love they will never forget. With To Your Arms Of Love and Call On Me, Jah Cure continued to show his dominance and unyielding presence in the music industry.

Dancehall group TOK was entertaining, and while they had to work through a series of technical difficulties with the microphone, the group rebounded to give patrons a performance worth seeing.

Bounty Killer was his usual lyrically witty self and did mostly hits from the early and late '90s that had the crowd engaged in a sing along. Not to be outdone, his dancehall protégé Mavado was brilliant.

There was not enough time for the Stulla artiste to present his large catalogue of hits, nonetheless Mavado did his best to keep fans enthralled with what little time he had to perform.

Heroes Day is about paying homage to our heroes.

More recently, the entertainment industry has been enjoying not just Heroes Day, but the corresponding Heroes Day weekend.

This year, one organisation is planning to celebrate dancehall heroes, no bigger than Beenie Man and Bounty Killer who, once again, will share a stage.

Mile High Entertainment, along with Fuel Cell Energy Drink, has dubbed an event 'Fuel Dancehall Heroes' - the venue, the Jungle Nightclub in Negril.

The line-up of artistes includes other 'heroes' of the dancehall in Mavado, I-Octane and T.O.K., who will be backed by Danger Zone Sound.

"The event is fuelled by the real heroes of the dancehall. The older heroes and the younger heroes will be on display, giving the patrons a show that's fuelled with energy," said Delmar Drummond, head of Lee Drum Distributors, distributors of the new Fuel Cell Energy Drink.

Promoter of the Fuel Dancehall Heroes, Mile High Entertainment, is most known for the success of the Jungle Nightclub, which has become the number-one nightclub in western Jamaica. Mile High has also promoted some of the more successful parties on that side of the island such as this year's Red Star Concert and 2009's WOW (Weekend Out West).

REGGAE singer/songwriter Duane Stephenson was recently invited by the World Food Programme (WFP) to perform in honour of the United States Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton. The event took place at the George McGovern Leadership Award ceremony in Washington, DC.

Stephenson was at the tail end of his US tour with the Wailers, and the two parties previously teamed up for a song that manifested a partnership with the WFP. "The Wailers and I are partners with the World Food Programme," says Stephenson. "Our song A Step for Mankind has helped to spread the message of the need for more action in addressing the issue of world hunger."

Stephenson was thus invited to perform at the ceremony that included political dignitaries and social activists from around the world at the prestigious event, where Secretary Clinton was presented with The George McGovern Leadership Award for her work to curb global hunger.

Stephenson reveals he is humbled and excited by the experience. "It's so inspiring to be in the company of global politicians and dedicated corporate partners who share the same values and aspirations to eradicate hunger," states Stephenson. "Food is a common bond that unites every single life form on this planet, we all require it to live, yet a billion people each night go to bed hungry and 25,000 of them die."

Stephenson disclosed his work with the World Food Programme will continue as he sees the issue of world hunger as one that is very important to him. "I was happy to be there to see Secretary Clinton get this award as she has fought for this issue for years now. Hunger affects a billion of our brothers, sisters and children in 80 countries. This award will bring added attention and raise awareness of the issue."

Duane Stephenson just wrapped up touring the US as the opening act for the legendary Wailers, and promoting his sophomore album Black Gold, released by VP Records on September 28, 2010. Black Gold is the highly anticipated follow-up to Stephenson's debut album From August Town, which was released by VP Records in 2007 and was hailed as one of that year's best reggae albums.

Duane Stephenson has been invited by the World Food Programme to The George McGovern Leadership Award ceremony for United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Tuesday October 5 in Washington DC.

Stephenson is being invited to join the WFP's Board of Directors, US Congressional Committee Members and Special Representative for Global Partnerships in the Office of the Secretary of State, Ambassador Elizabeth Frawley Bagley. At the prestigious event, US Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, will be presented with The George McGovern Leadership Award for her work in addressing the issue of global hunger. This award is given to individuals who have done stellar work in tackling the issue and Mrs Clinton is the tenth awardee.

With songs like Jamaican Girls and Gallis, it is clear that rising musical star Christopher Martin has always been about the girls. On a rainy Tuesday night this week, the diminutive but chiselled young singer found himself surrounded by beautiful women as he shot his latest video Come Where You Going.

This was the second video being shot for the song. One was shot earlier this year but Martin's handlers wanted to go in a different direction with the concept, so they shot a new video on Tuesday.

So as the clouds associated with Tropical Storm Nicole dumped inches of rain on to the streets of Kingston, in the safety of the studios of Phase 3 Productions, director Gareth Cobran gradually unfurled his vision of Martin chasing beautiful women all over the world with the help of green screen and three gorgeous ladies Stacy, Raquel and Noemi.

"It's all about movement. Chris is talking about where he is going, so it was all about movement," Cobran said of what he was working to achieve. "

Meantime, Martin was enjoying working with the cast and crew, especially the lovely Noemi, who is from Italy. During a break in the production, he playfully mocked her accent after she told THE STAR she was having fun on the shoot. "I am feeling good about the video. It looks good, the cast looks good," he said with a hint of mischief. "And the production has been very good."

He continued: Kudos to the director. Everybody understands the concept. It will have that 'talk-about' effect."

The video is being produced by Mosiah Music and producer Richie Pearson has high hopes for the video shot between 3 p.m. Tuesday and 1 a.m. Wednesday, and which will be ready in about two weeks. "Just look for something colourful and energetic," he said.

Pearson said working with Martin was everything he expected it to be. "It was excellent working with him. It's good when you have a friendship before. It was easy and there is a flow and you will see that with this song," he said.
